UPS Shield in address bar

What is with the UPS Shield in the address bar? anybody notice it? or is this just on my computer?

Several weeks ago, I noticed a piece sign there.

Strange. normaly I have the wrench too.

I was in the UPS web site checking on a tracking # for a parts order today, wonder if that has anything to do with it. I wouldn`t think so.

I just noticed it a few minutes ago. HMMM did UPS buy PeachParts?

If I go to UPS, the address bar will have the UPS logo.

But as it is, the wrench + MB logo is what I have now.

Refresh?

I hit the refresh a couple times, hit the Red X and was back to my desk top. came back into the forum, and it is still there.

I went to yahoo.com, and the peachparts wrench pops up in the bar? come back here and it`s the UPS.

Charlie,

Clear your cache, cookies, history, everything. That should fix the problem.

The purple peace sign is from craigslist. If you go back to craigslist you will see it again. it is called "favicon.ico" and its just something a website can make your browser display. I suspect the UPS brown shield is what UPS has for its "favicon.ico" on their site.

Sometimes the browser gets confused and serves up the old icon. Go to your browser preferences and clear cache.

When a site is opened in https:// (encrypted) mode, for example PayPal, you get an even fancier thing in the address bar. That is an indication that the site is who it says it is and not a phishing site that captures your paypal information.

Hope this helps
Andre

That peace sign or MB logo is the head of a bolt in the open ended wrench. Its part of the PP emblem I guess.

have you downloaded Rkill run it, then installed malwarebytes.org's free malware scanner? you might have some kind of listener running on your system...

hi
had this recently with Internet Explorer 8 on Win 7....IE just doesn't seem to cope very well with custom favicons...must be an 'undocumented feature'...

Solution...get a better browser. I use Chrome, it's fine except for some issues with PDF's.....

cheers!

Iam using Windows 7 also, not sure which version of IE though.

My Son In Law the computer expert, mentioned to me to use fireFox which has less issues than IE.

Firefox is ok, Chrome is really fast and nice and simple, either is safer than IE - or Safari. Opera is quite nice too

I've always been a Firefox fan (for the past 4 years), but in the last 6 months its been glitchy. I read that it has something to do with the add-ons i have running... but I haven't messed with them in over a year. All I can figure is that the updates Firefox runs makes it not like the before stable add-ons. I updated all my add-ons and fought with it for weeks trying to figure out which one was screwing with the browser... at some point I gave up and got Opera... Its a learning curve, but no problems so far!
