a/c compressor hose assembly

for my 82 300cd

time to start thinking about ac again. I have read the manifold pair of hoses on the ac compressor are not supposed to be flushed. I flushed them the last time but had a shrader valve leak and the system went down pretty fast. I want to make another try at it this year and Im wondering if this tube is indeed not flushable, I never had a catostrophic failure either time, just leaks. Is there a source for this hose set? The others are pretty straight forward but this one looks special and I cant find it in the buy parts section

Do a search for really recent threads about this ' manifold '... last week or so someone said it was available new... but expensive..
it is the FSM which says it is not flushable....
I wish someone who has an old one would send it to me... I will take it apart and see what the deal is... ( or maybe they just want to sell the really expensive replacement... either way we would know more )....
I might even try making duplicates of it.... I now have tubing benders and am putting my TIG back into working order...

I found the thread that asked was it available, but no answer was given. Hopefully someone will post if theyve found one. I may go pull a junk yard one and cut it open to see if theres a filter in there. Ill do it there for free

lutzTD, Is that the same manifold set used on an 81-85 SD? If so I recall seeing them available from one of the vendors I use. I seem to remember $184? I was looking to replace mine as I had overtightend it and put a little bow in it. I will see if I can locate it.

When the compressor seized on my 81 240D, it ripped the pulley from the harmonic balancer!!!!

When the new one got installed, I lost charge real quick (like over a few months). Turned out the manifold wasnt true/straight (odd because the compressor that was seized was the original), and so it couldnt seal properly.

I called Phil, he could get a new one, but could also get good used ones, which is what I did to save $300 IIRC. It worked fine.

If it was for my 82, which is much more of a DD, I'd have gone new because of the conditions it sits in, etc. While I try not to run the 82 in salt/snow, it still gts wet/rain/etc., so Id prefer a new part. Since the 240 is far more of a garage queen, I figured the used part was OK and has been to date.

I'm not sure what the line is like for your 300cd but I replaced the rubber hose sections myself on my 85 300sd, just cut off the old hose and crimpped on new sections, from Napa, with a friends crimper. You might be able to take it to Napa or an AC specialty shop to have it redone. It has lasted a couple years now and it was cheap!

got one for $240, I decided to bite the bullet and replace it, Florida sucks with no air

If anyone is looking there are a couple Behr ones on the bay for $99, I dont like the Behr stuff but for that price I might have done it. too late for me.
