Really odd noise from the back tires.....

Just the other day, I started noticing that under full acceleration, it sounded almost like the car was peeling out when reaching 2500-3000 RPMs (without the screeching that peeling out would normally make). And just tonight I applied full pedal to get the car up a little hill and it made that same almost grinding/peeling out noise from distinctly the rear drivers side of the car. The engine reacts like the drive tires are losing contact with the ground...

Any idea on what this is? Is it a bad idea to drive the car with this happening? Any insight would be much appreciated!

engine revs free? drivers side wheel noise? oof... I'd jack up the car and spin the wheels by hand and see what it feels like.

Looks like that's what i'll have to do. Anything in particular I should look for? I knew this car doesn't have the power to squeal the tires at 25 MPH and 3000 RPMS. It's definitely not the nicest noise I've heard from one of these cars.

noise could be a lot of things, get the car up on jack stands, and put SOLID chocks on the front tires, or secure the car to something solid and grab the wheel in question and spin it by hand! if it makes noise when turning, see if you can locate the noise.

Without knowing exactly what the sound is like, I offer the possibility of the exhaust system contacting the body somewhere while under load. Of course, this wouldn't explain a change in engine speed.
