where to purchase diesel purge?

Hello all, first post but long time lurker...

Just bought my first benz, a 79 240D 4 speed. It runs good but is a little hard to start. I know the first thing I need to do is a valve adjustment since the previous owner had it for 30,000miles and didn't even know what a valve adjustment was when I asked him the last time they had been done... Along with a valve adjustment, replacing the glow plugs (dont know if any of them are bad but they are cheap online), I would like to do a diesel purge before I replace the fuel filters.

I have discovered the great website **********.com for all my parts but need to get some diesel purge as it has "special" shipping requirements since it is flammable $$$. So my question is are there any major auto parts stores or german auto parts stores in south king county washington or around seattle i can buy it, is this product avalible at a place they sell tractors or a retailier im not thinking of. The easier the better, thanks in advance...

Welcome Uneasy !!
If you have been lurking, you would know that we try to be friendly & helpful here in diesel discussion.
As well as your local parts place that 10fords mentions, any truck or tractor place will have it. I wouldnt be in any hurry to use it though.
After you have set the valves, changed the oil & filters & given it a good run ~ Italian tune, if it is still not right, then think of diesel purge.
There are many brands of GP's, best be careful what you get. Some brands are junk.
When you need parts best check the buyparts at the top of the page.
They sponsor the site & Phil & Roy are second to none when it comes to knowledge & ability with these motors.
Good luck with your car!!!

Sometimes Advance Auto or Autozone carry it. Well, there's only one that does in Buffalo, so let your "fingers do the walking".

Call Abe at Mercedes BMW Parts in Seattle. He's the best source I've found for older Mercedes parts and diesel knowledge. 206.523.1804 (I have his number memorized)

Thanks for the warm welcome and responses guys! Stopped by napa after work today and picked up a couple cans for around 6 bucks each.

I also canceled my order for new glowplugs tonight, figured out I was not letting them do their job, if I glow for 40 seconds (manual glow switch) It fires up like a champ.

I will give it a valve adjustment first and foremost, change the oil and filter and before doing the fuel filters feed it the straight diesel purge. I gave it an italian tune up on the way home from buying it for about 2hrs
