w115 update!

Man. i think I now understand all the smoking when I first tried to start my $300.00 (yep, and super clean) 75 w115 300d. The main filter and canister was completely black, the filter just caked with tar like black sludge -no wonder starting was such a pita, that and I did not understand (failed to research) the glow cycle in advance versus my 123/126 cars. I received my fast glow kit today, changed out filters, drained fuel tank after treating, filled main filter canister with mix of diesel and moly lubro diesel purge, adjusted valves,(all were
super tight) lubed linkages with atf, desulphated battery which I caught in the nick of time, squirted MM oil in open glow ports this past week, bead blasted and POR 15 painted battery tray (had to weld in a little metal in one spot, looks better than new) cleaned ground connections, cleaned tank screen filter (not bad) tightened fuel line connections. Tomorrow should fire up day! After running, I will do a citric flush and go through cooling system -almost there! Might pull injectors and take to gus at Pacific fuel injection for cleaning and adjustment -whew! Quite a week!
