1979 Glow plug relay rebuild?

Is the glow plug relay a rebuildable/refurbishable unit on a '79 300D? If so, can anyone point me at a schematic or picture of it? I don't have that info in my FSM, and a search shows info on location, but no pictures of a unit apart.

Some people have managed to go inside thier Relays and do things like clean the Contacts; but those were on the later style Glow Plug Relays.

There is no rebuild kit for any of the Glow Plug Relays.

When I went to my favorite parts pace there was 2 possible Stock Relays for your year and model. One was $105 and the other cost $417. Which one fits yours depends on your chassie number.

If you 79 has the Loop/Filiment type Glow Plugs and your Stock Relay is not good you are a good canidate for the Udated Glow Plug Kit that comes eith 4 Glow PLugs and a Relay. You need to buy 1 extra Glow Plug and make maybe make an extra Jumper Wire.

The place I like to shop has the kit for $105 but check eBay or other places to see if there is a better price somewhere.

I am showing the Bosch instuctions but there is another company that also makes the kit.

Go to your local pull a part junk yard and get one off another 300D... That what I did, I think i paid 20-30 bucks....

Alas, no pick and pull junkyards near me. I'll try to clean the contacts and see if there are any cold solder joints, but I think I may do the upgrade. It's starting to fire off randomly while driving and cause my alternator to squeal, but I haven't definitely tied those 2 (glow indicator light comes on and the alternator belt slips) together, as it won't do this for me, just my better half.
