Headlights Are Now On When I When I Turn Ignition On? WTF!

I recently replaced my blower brushes and did the remote 30 amp fuse block for the system (1982 300sd w126) Today while driving, I noticed that my headlights which used to only operate when the headlight switch was turned on are on at all times regardless of switch -they turn off of course when I shut car down -how can this be?

That's a feature, not a bug!

I'd guess you've jumpered something in the fuse box that connects power to F8/F6. Pull those fuses and see if the lights are still on with ignition on. That will tell you which side of the fuse is powered and if they are still protecting the circuits. If the lights are still on, try pulling other fuses until they go out.

Do the high beams come on if you activate them with the lights off? I'm not talking about flashing your brights, I'm talking turning on the brights. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess they don't. If so, then you could temporarily turn off the lights by turning on the brights if you want to.

That's what I thought too as all modern cars have this feature (daytime driving lights) I pulled seven (two ganged wires on one side, one on the other -all red with white stripes) and bypassed with 30 amp fuse /holder. Perhaps between the two ganged wires, I should have isolated and remounted to fuse block. Either way, I kind of like the idea of having the lights on all the time -should be easy to figure this on out -thanks!
