Flutter

Hey friends, I am getting a slight flutter between 21and 2800RPM Changed filter twice thinking water, no water present any ideas? Thanks Burgenlander

Howdy pal:
You don't state if it's the 240D or the E300D.
On the E300, I'd suspect sticky resonance flaps, fairly common and easy to take them out and degunk them to get them woking right. If it's the 240 I am unsure what's up with it then.

Have you ever taken them out before is it a big deal or just a little spray typejob and how many are there?

It's not too bad of a job. You need to be able to take the aluminum air intake cross-over manifold off. One is on the bottom of the cross-over. If you notice the "button" kind of in the middle of the crossover, that's where it is, on the underside of that button. Once you see it, you won't have a problem figuring out what to do. The other one is on the bottom side of the intake manifold, if you look down the hole that's left when the crossover is removed, you can see it. Have fun.
