When to replace the rear suspension "spheres"
I was following my wife who was driving the '85 300 TDT recently and noticed it looked a little low in the rear. Since it was full of 8 year olds at the time, including in the 3rd seat, I didn't think much of it. Now after reading several other threads on the subject I'm wondering if maybe my gas charged spheres are getting tired and could use replacing. I would appreciate the input of anyone who has experience with these...is the safety/cost/difficulty to replace make it worth doing soon or should I wait until it gets much worse. BTW the sysytem seems to work fine, I recently took home a load of firewood and managed not to drag the rear bumper. It's just hanging a bit low. Thanks for the (continued) help and feedback.

LRG,
The spheres are the shock absorbers for the system, only. They have nothing to do with ride height, only bounce (ride comfort). If your rear is a little low, try adjusting & lube up the linkage to the system controller. It is just forward of the rear axle. Its a good DIY job. ~George~ |
