What if you don't meet the deadline??? Will it get extended? Will they and can they fine you?

What ever happened to that rust free 85 300DT that's got water in the floor pans? Did you find where the water was coming in from? Did you haul it off to the scrapper? Never heard back from you.

the city code states excess cars can be fined $100/vehicle/day...
so on the 25th day, if I have not accomplished everything I needed to, I'll call the dismantlers and have them remove what's left.

Funola, sorry, I just did not have time to get all the information you needed ahead of time. SOOOO much to do over here... the 85 got traded for a much needed tow vehicle for me! he wanted the car, and I wanted his extended cab long bed turbo diesel truck.
win win. nobody has to drive massive distances. he's a local member!
and he'll learn working on the cars with me, and he'll rebuild all the suspension that's needed, and any water leaks will be tackled.
he's tickled to get the car.

I think if I get time, I'll tinker with different length drive shafts I've got, and see if I can find one that fits in the 4speed 300... I have a euro to compare to, so it should not be difficult!
if I get that to fit, I'll have a working turbodiesel 4 speed manual transmission car to sell... or I may put it in the pay it forward thread, I'm still not sure about that.

the green SD is getting parted out. I am putting the engine from it into the 85D and gutting the rest of the car.

the inspector said I'm allowed to store whatever vehicles I want inside an enclosed space.
my 67 camaro is in my three sided carport, and I have to move it... SOOOO annoying.
after the inspection, I'll have to change the carport into an attached garage to keep the car near the house... arrgh.
I asked if I enclosed the carport by putting a garage door on if that would make the camaro legally stored, and he said I cannot make changes to the structure of my yard or house without a permit and I cannot get a permit until I'm in compliance with the city codes...

So what's the status? I'm in SC Myrtle Beach with my wife but I have a lower back issue and I'm not all that helpful in the stripping area now as i can;t sit for more than 20-30 mins at a time. I have a car full of crap but if you're not 2 far out of the way I could move some small boxed up stuff into the DC area for folks. Will be pulling up stakes on Sunday AM.

Also need to clear this with the chief but she's flexible for the most part.

I'm likely 200+ miles out of the way from your trip to DC... but if anyone in that area wants stuff, and you feel the out of the way is not excessive, I'm game to load you up.

progress.
TOTALLY stripped down the 80TD, nothing but a shell left, and I"m in the process of cutting that into bite sized pieces... amazingly, the accumulators still had pressure in them!
pulled the drivetrain out of my 86 C20.

Well, Jim, the owner of Tampa Spring in Tampa Florida (they specialize in frames and suspensions on everything from cars to big rigs) gave a good luck at the undercarriage on my 123 and pointed out to me that MBZs are built like tanks/trucks in that the older ones have the frames of trucks. So . . . I would have told you that cutting one would be as difficult as cutting up a catepillar or army truck!!!! Although, if you want to do that, find out how the junkyards do it with cutting torches for quick division!!!

well, I'd not say they have the frame of any truck I've seen, but WOW there are SERIOUS crossbeams and suspension in there!!! the section nof the floor the diff bolts to is at least 1/4" thick tube steel... SERIOUS stuff! THAT is where I'm attaching my tow hitch!!!

I update my pics as I go. I've got two more 123's going out soon, and the wagon I'm almost finished cutting up, will go out on monday!

I've just discovered this thread, all I can says is wow, and we're rooting for you up here in Canada. One question, I didn't read all of the posts, but could you have rented another property to store the better vehicles for a few months until you got your property in compliance, got the permit, and build a hanger or other type of garage?
Don't give up man!
Cheers,

Martin
