Folks, I've finishing up replacing all dash vacuum pods on my 1987 300TD and cleaning up after a previous owner's work in the dash. I'm nearly done, but have one wire that I cannot find a home for. It was unplugged and laying under the gauge cluster when I removed it (the gauges). It is green with a yellow strip and has a round socket on the end of it and does not appear to connect to the instrument cluster. I can find a reference to such colored wire in the wiring diagram for the cruise control amp coming from pin 11 on the amp (vehicle speed in) with one branch labled as going to the "Push button cntl unit) and another to the speed sensor. It does not indicate where the pushbutton control unit is, or if there are any other connections in the wiring connection between components. It's the only reference I've found to a green/yellow wire in the dash. Still looking for a place to plug it in. Any ideas?

Green Yellow wire in W124 Dash?
I just found this link that talks about the wire in question W124 saloon OTG wiring loom - Page 2 - Mercedes-Benz Owners' Forums . It sounds like this wire may not be used in "early" W124's, has to do with Hall Effect transistor and speed sensing.

It plugs into the back of the speedometer.
First post, third picture, the single post to the left of the speedo cable fitting - http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/245849-87-300d-gauge-cluster-innards-boost-gauge-mod.html Sixto 87 300D |

Thanks for the reality check, Sixto. I was chasing a goose of my own creation. I was looking right at it and didn't see it. Too much cussing, not paying attention...
