Knot a MBZ diesel GM 6.5L any thoughts

Okay I am once again on the look for a pick up. I have searched and keep going back and forth. Currently looking at 1994 GMC diesel. Does anyone here know a good forum to follow or have had experience with these good or bad ? Just starting to look but found one that the owner says is real clean rust free etc.
I will see it tomorrow
Thanks
Alan.

I have a 6.2L and the 6.5 has more guts. It's currently used in one whole generation of Humvees. It's real important to get both the manual and the owner's manual.

I got both and spent a lot of time reading them

a great drivetrain is good, but be SURE the truck suits your needs before you purchase.
I bought my 92 6.2L truck with standard cab, long bed.
I REALLY needed at least an extended cab... ZERO room in the truck for parts, etc... and I need the bed length for equipment and tools...
it's REALLY hard to sell an old diesel truck. so be ABSOLUTELY SURE before you buy it!!!!

Dieselplace seems to have 2-3 x the 6.5 traffic that thetruckstop.us has.

i own two 6.2's... looking at getting a 6.5 in a suburban... seeing the 6.5 is basically a bored out 6.2 with a turbo (many swap in 6.5 upgraded parts &seals on 6.2's) you may find the CUCV forum at steelsoldiers.com a good site as well... the cucv techmanuals are great for working on 1980's gm trucks as well. oh and i really like the haynes diesel engine manual.... its got good stuff on 6.2's and 6.5's

94 6.5 is a bit of an orphan

The IP is different than all other years of 6.5 engines. Also there are lots of 6.5 pickups out there in all configurations, try to get one where the motor has been replaced. The crate motors have most of the frailties fixed that plague original engines. You would be surprised at how many lowish mileage gm or chev trucks have had new engines installed, a lot more than ford or cummins. New motor good, original motor very iffy. Cheers Dan
