Having dealt with northern W123s, I have never had a problem removing the oil pan bolts as there is usually ample oil in that area to keep rust away.

If they do break, they are available at your local HW store, they are a standard size.

If it was my vehicle, I would want to have the drain plug working properly and not have to rely on a topsider.


that all being said, i think with heat and a 6 point socket you ill get it out.

The yellow goop is thread sealer (Rector Seal) and is cheap insurance for the Quick lube shop as it's a way to protect themselves from previous abuse. It does not harden and makes sure there is a good oil tight seal because they 'don;t replace the crush washers.
