But, I don't want to make more work for him if it turns out to be a technique problem rather than an incorrectly installed IP problem. Hence my rather hesitant only do it if you've run out of all of the other options advice.

@fochs did you try that quick tip that we mustn't talk about on this forum yet?(!!!!)
I have contacted the individual but have received no information back. I am unclear on the details otherwise (these aren't the droids you're looking for-he can go about his business- move along)

So, when you are pumping the hand pump and trying to slowly move the IP to the one drip per second.... can you hear this ' popping' .... or are you assuming because fuel is flowing that it is being regulated as to pressure ?
Back when this was being discussed before I don't remember anyone mentioning that our efforts to stabilize and standardize the fuel pressure was a waste of time( that it was being taken car of by an internal regulator).... it seemed like we started talking about fixes when someone indicated the flow rate changed without the movement of the IP.

Because of the audiable pinging etc it does sound like the pump may be a little advanced.

The fuel pump, by design, over delivers. Excess fuel (and pressure) is "vented" through the pressure relief valve. As long as supply exceeds demand, the upper pressure is regulated by the relief valve. No one should have any difficulty pumping fast enough to keep up with one drip per second.
