When I shut off car and removes keys battery light is on.I assumed that voltage regulator was bad and changed it,same thing.
Restarted car and alternator started smelling burnt and was hot.
I had alternator rebuilt 6 months ago.

I'd pull the battery terminals ASAP! a shot alternator can melt wiring in the charge circuit!

From memory, the light gets voltage from the battery on one side and voltage from the alternator on the opposite side. When the voltage is equal , the light is extinguished.

Apparently, you are getting voltage to the light from the battery, with the key removed. That's a bit of a conundrum because I believe the gauges are powered in run and start, not all the time.

With the key removed, see if anything else in the vehicle also works (I realize the lights work.............they work all the time, by design).

alternator diodes are fried,and rotor windings burnt.
