no flow from pre-filter line
I just changed both my fuel filters and noticed no fuel flowing from the pre-filter line when I removed the pre-filter. From reading past posts you are supposed to stop the flow with a golf tee or something. Is this normal? The car is a 85 300SD, 219,000mi.

Not likely to be a problem
I suspect that a lot depends on the level of fuel in the tank and various other factors which might sometimes cause siphoning to begin on its own (which is one reason for the golf-tee trick). If you were able to clear the lines of air and start the car easily with the normal hand pump after completing the filter change, I doubt that there's any problem. If you had trouble then, though, there may be a blockage at the tank screen, or a fuel line beginning to deteriorate inside.

I experienced the same thing and had the same concern the first time changing fuel filters. Tank was low. And with the installation complete, I pumped up the system and all was perfect.
