im the recent proud owner of a 82 300sd and an 84 190d and would like to buy service repair manuals for both. I would like paper copies and something with more meat than haynes or chilton. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I too prefer paper copies.... my keyboard will not reach to where I work on my car.... LOL....
Have you considered the Factory Shop Manuals from Mercedes Benz ? Greg

eBay has M-B manuals listed a lot, both print and CD. Print manuals for your '82 are OOP. I do not know about the availability of print manuals for your 190, but I would think they are also OOP. My library has the Mitchell automotive service manuals covering M-B and I've found some really great info in them that was not in any other service manuals, including M-B.

I agree, the print manuals are a lot easier to use than the CD's (Acrobat Reader is clunky, the pics are not very clear, small print is hard to read, etc.). There is a preference for the print versions and the bids on eBay usually reflect this fact. However, you can buy the entire set of manuals on one CD (the M-B set is two CD's for the W123 seriesl, but your '82 model will be on only one CD so you will have an extra CD, I do not know about your 190) and then print out any info you need to take to the garage where you are working. The print manuals are a set of 5 for your '82 (2 chassis, and 1 each for the engine, climate control, and electrical).

An outfit called Performance Products sells the paper versions still. However they are the last ones, Mercedes no longer prints these. Everything has gone digital these days. I don't have their catalog in front of me but I do recall seeing alot of manuals for sale, but be prepared to pay $$$$. It would be cheaper to buy the CD. I too hesitated at having everything on a disk, in the house. Though it is nice to research your project inside, print up the pages you need and bring them out to the car.

broke down and ordered cd from mercedes seemed to be the best deal. ready to get it in and try it out. thanks for input.
