W123 Differential stuck
I'm in the process of changing out my axle shafts and I cant seem to lower the Differential. The rear mount is removed but it will not budge. Any suggestions?
|
How is the vehicle supported?
|
The differential is attached to the subframe, so if you have the car lifted up on the subrame, its not going to go anywhere. Need to support it on the body under the Subframe anchor bolts.

When I replaced my Diff., I used this tutorial as a guide. It also outlines the axle shafts as well in the first steps.
PeachPartsWiki: Replacing the Differential You will probably find your answer in here. There are 4 studs/nuts that hold the diff to the subframe. You need the car up in the air on jack stands and you need to be able to move the subframe up and down once you remove the rear diff. mount. Being able to move the subframe up and down allows you the room to "get the axles out". |

All done and I must say that while I'm sure my body will be aching tomorrow the job wasn't as bad as some... Like oil cooler lines :D
