tool kit

Hi,

Id liek to know what are the reccomended tools for a DIY to have along in the car shoud something go wrong, and also for genberal maintenance, i.e. oil change, diff change, trans oil change, fuel filter, lightbulb, etc.
A list/reccomendations would be most appreciated. Thanks

Sears Craftsman has some nice combo kits for $100 bucks and under. got my son one for Christmas. Nice tools and lifetime warrenty.

In addition to the usual....

Vacuum tester
Metric Allen key sockets
Voltmeter
Torque Wrench
Major league pry bar

I think you will find the more work you do on your car your tool collection will grow as needed. The sears kits are good general assortments. They usually include 1/4-3/8-1/2 in drives. You may need to get additional sockets for glow plugs and injectors. Also a metric combonation wrench set. You dont have to buy top of the line tools but good quality tools will make the jobs easier.

tools:

Craftsman set as mentioned above {metric}
Full range of screwdrivers.
Combination wrench set 8mm-19mm and add 24mm for deisel fuel filter.
4mm long punch for brakes.
14mm allen socket {sears don't have it}
Circuit tester.
Creeper
Jack
Set of jack stands.
Safety glass's.
Manuals.Haynes,cd, factory. in that order. Factory are best.
As post above suggest. Buy as you need. Spend the money on parts. And then tools.
There are a few special tools. Buy as needed.
