Got my replacement dash....

Well as this weekend is drawing nearer i am continualy getting more nervous at the thought of taking apart my car past the point i could still drive it if need be. The dash i bought cost 100 dollars, and is perfect except for two small cracks by the speaker grills. I ordered the diaphram parts, and they should be arriving tomarrow. The only dillemma i ran into is that my current car has zebrano wood, and the dash has burlwood. This wouldn't be a dilemma except the wood on the new dash(burlwood) is absolutely perfect and beutifull. Looks so much more luxury like then my zebrano. On top of that, the wood on my current dash is beet up, scratched, and peeling. So now, i'm going to be investing more money converting the entire car to burlwood. I spent about two hours lying in bed thinking about this decision last night(sad isn't it???). I just can't get past how flawless and luxurious the burlwood looks. Well as the project gets underway i will keep you all posted, and i will be taking pictures and doing a write up. I"ll have to figure out how to create a web page to post it on though....

Ryan

I may have Burlwood then since mine is a light brownish color that looks like proper wood (has nice looking grain, etc)

It's the same color yup. (that's the picture I looked at when you first said the 6.9's had Burlwood, that explains the first post)

Guess my car ain't Burlwood then, oh well, I like how my Interior looks anyways.

Thx Bill

Only cars that got burlwood in the US were flagship models, 6.3, 450SEL, 6.9, 500SEL, 560SEL, S500, S600.

I don't know of any US 123's that got burl, alot did in europe, but you had so many options to choose from, im sure you could delete the drivers seat if you wanted

I believe the 500SEL's, all the 560's and all the coupes came with burl, plus as stated earlier the 300SEL 6.3, the 6.9 and the 600's.

Ryan, stick with the burl, take your time at the bone yards and pick-up nice pieces as you find them. Once and a while you'll come across a wreck that has a complete set that you might be able to grab and have a mostly matched set of wood.

Remove dash off 240D

I have a replacement dash for my 1977 240D just wanted to know how hard is it to take off the dash? Just wanted to know before I take to the shop and have someone do it for me.
