I have not seen a photo of the compressor mounted in the car, but the bracketry looks well thought out and appears to be of good quality. However, $400 is a lot to spend in addition to a compressor and the proper (I guess it is needed) "K" head. I think I will try another R4 for now in my 126.....Rich

Wow, $400.

Looks like I'll just build another one for my 2n'd car...

*sigh*

I've been waiting for this but that's a bit spendy for me but probably worth it to get away from an R4.

I wonder if it would work with a 709 compressor?

REENIGNE ESREVER :D

I asked about other compressors, they said they should fit but cannot assure as it was designed around the 508. I put an Alpha unit on my 735i recently from AC kits which is a 155cc 10 piston version of this 508 style... and my conversion kit was made for the 508 style. The Sanden part number is the 6630 for the R4 -> Sanden.

Of course the material is not $400. You are paying for their R&D plus profit for the kit. If it is too expensive, make your own. This is just like buying anything else.

Do I wish it was a bit less? Yes, of course I do. When all the time, lost refrigerant, multiple R4s, labor, etc is calculated I have spent far more than the $600 this kit will cost in the end.

I am finished with the R4.
