300d temp gauge markings

Does anyone know what each temp gauges marking means?

There's a marking for 40 and 80 but there's a marking slightly about 40. Is that 60?

My temp gauge never makes it to 80 and I think I need to replace the thermostat.

Thanks.

Pete

the markings are pretty simple

120
--- =100
80
--- = 60
40

you should check the gauge with a resistor (search on this forum for the specific resistor value) - you stick it in the wiring of the temp sender of the engine and it should read exactly 100 degrees. If it doesnt your gauge is duff.

furthermore the temp sender is then decided to be duff or good with the help of an infrared thermometer and a multimeter to verify the resistance/temperature reading.

Thanks. The spacing of the marks aren't equal between 40 and 80. Not like a clock
Thanks for the info. It helps a great deal.
