85 300 SD Tranny issue help ! 208,000 miles on car

I posted here a weeks ago few about an issue that appeared to be a minor problem with accelerator linkage. Today I had the first opportunity to take a serious look and I am afraid it is a tranny problem.
Here goes: Over a 2 day time period the acceleration became more and more sluggish requiring pushing down on the pedal more. The second day it was so bad that I barely got it home at speeds well below speed limit ( thanks again to all those honking and giving me the semi-international middle finger of peace sign) Today started the car let it warm up and slowly moved the shifter through the gears. As normal you could feel it as it went into Drive. As I pressed the pedal the engine speed increased without really bogging down but the car only
rolled 1/4 inch and no further ( driveway is on an incline) did not try reverse since the car is sitting near the end of the driveway and do not want to block the sidewalk or have it stranded in the street. I know the fluid has not been changed in awhile but it gave no other symptoms. Is this a B2 piston issue ?
Help !
Alan

One other thing to clarify. It does rock forward when placed in drive. Have not checked reverse yet. At first I though maybe the parking brake was stuck on.
New pads were installed a few months ago.

Need to check reverse. Just put it in reverse, put your foot on the brake and press on the accelerator to see if reverse is functioning.

I will do that when I get back home and see what happens. I hope it's nothing major. I am about to move and already have 2 cars not roadworthy. A third would be a problem.

up until the last sentence I was thinking clogged fuel filter... then I was thinking B2 piston...
either way it's relatively simple to fix on an SD...
ya gotta verify if Reverse works... cause if it does, and it pulls strong in R, but nothing in D, then it's B2...
if it's the same in R, you could be looking at major transmission failure, but it could also be clogged fuel filters.

VsTech, Thanks and as always very good advice. I know the see through inline filter is clear and I did run some Startron through a few months ago. I have extra filters and will change them out regardless. When I placed it in Drive it did jump a little forward and as I press the pedal down it appears the car is trying to move forward. As I said I will check reverse when I get home and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks gentlemen.

Have not had a moment to get back to the 300Sd until yesterday. Had the grill going and a beer in hand. Went out she started right up after 3 weeks without hesitation. let her warm up ( even though it was 90 degrees in the shade) and then moved the shifter from P to D and then back to R. As it went into both forward and reverse gear it made the usual jump and you could feel it wanting to go. I still have not resolved why there is only 1/2-1 inch of pedal movement.
I looked at the linkage under the hood and it looks fine to me.
Does anyone have a good diagram of the the linkage from the pedal through the firewall etc to the IP. Aside from the lack of pedal movement I still think there is an issue. Putting the tranny aside for a moment I remember replacing the rear pads about a 2-3 weeks before this issue started. The parking brake was not adjusted at all and in fact had not been used in many years I am wondering if they have kinda locked up. This slow down was kinda progressive over 2 days time period and starting at the basics----- if the wheels do not turn. But again there is still an issue with something in the linkage that is preventing me from getting full movement at the pedal and ultimately the IP.

Jack it up at each wheel and see if it is locked up. Maybe you are onto something with the brakes locking up. The front wheels should spin easily and with the back wheels, have it in neutral, or have both wheels off the ground and test.

Exactly what I was thinking. The last work done on the vehicle was rear brakes and as far as the pedal travel it would not be the first time I broke something that was not supposed to break ( at least not easily ) I will get back here on Monday I am off that day and it will be my first opportunity to get it in the air.
