Personally, I'd do the chain in a separate process, with the cyl. head in situ--too many opportunities to eff stuff up with the chain unhinged right now.
I still need to invest in the proper pin puller, but the last time I pulled a 60X head, I used a grade 10.9 bolt with a series of washers to pull the pins. On the first #14 head I pulled, I snapped off a lesser grade bolt and ended up drilling and driving it out from the backside as was mentioned earlier in the thread. |
I just pulled my pins last week with a bolt and using sockets and washers as spacers. shim the bolt so you only have 1 or 2 turns before the bolt bottoms out...that way you get as many threads as possible to grip the pin. you will have to remove the bolt many times and add washers as the pin comes out but it will come out and best of all it's a free pin puller...

But I still have yet to remove the head bolts and lift the head...next free time I have...

One pin is the pivot of the belt tensioner spring upper attachment, the other is flush in the head just above front cover to the right of 3 bosses, 13cm southeast of the first pin.
