Hi Guys-

I need some realistic input.
I need to sell my 1980 W116 300SD.
It has 147k on the clock
Needs new brakes (rotors, pads, etc) on all for corners
Vacuum system is messed up.
Has a new servo unit in it.
Tons of service records

What should I ask for it?

Low miles and no rust is a great combination. Brakes shouldn't matter....a routine maintenance item.

Not sure what is meant by vacuum system is messed up.

Assuming everything else works, good interior and exterior....

I agree $4500 is a good price. I might list it for $5000 and negotiate.

Determine the vac issue.

Around here, $4500 would take 3 or 4 months to sell, so it depends on how fast you want to get rid of it.

Thanks for all of the input guys. I sold another one of my gas cars so I'm keeping my diesel. I'm glad it worked out this way....nothing better than the sound of a 5 cylinder benz diesel.

I would say it is worth about $100. When do you want me to come pick it up?

Glad it worked out well for you and that you could keep it. I'd say that $4500 seems high to me but then again, I'm cheap. I would say closer to $3-3500 asking price. This assumes the climate control system and AC is working properly as this is a big drawback on these vehicles (I have the same CC system).
