anyone want their car to be on national TV?
Watching Discovery Channel, I took notice of a promo for an upcoming series about "beater" cars. Open casting call for people to enter their tired old cars in a competition for a chance to win $10,000 in upgrades. So I entered my '82 300SD. I thought "how could I loose", well I was sure wrong on that.
I filled out the online form on Sunday, come Monday, I have a call back!!! Holy cow! So I eagerly call the lady back and she asks me about my car, what I like about it, what I don't like about it, and tells me that they are really interested in entering my car (probably have around 7000 neons and cavaliers entered) At this point I'm grinning ear to ear! She continues to tell me they are the same people who produce the series "Canada's Worst Driver". Five cars will enter, only one will win. The cars will be tested against each other for things such as acceleration, braking, handling etc. (well, I have already lost) The best of the worst wins. If you win, $10,000. If you loose, $1500... Wait for it... Wait for it... ...$1500 for your car and they destroy it on television. Ohhh. Um, no thanks! I was so happy, only to be so let down. She asked if I was willing to gamble my car, I said no. She was actually quite persistent. I still declined. I figured if someone else entered a '90s 5.0 Mustang, I have lost the acceleration. A civic will out handle me, If they test braking control on a wet surface, anything with ABS will win. I was asked if I knew anyone else who would like to enter, so if anyone else does, PROPER TELEVISION :: CAR :: Apply Now! if the link gets blocked out, PM me and I will send it to you.
