Circlip snap ring pliers recommendation?
i keep bending the tips of the Harbor Freight pliers.
I know that HB is not the best brand, what do you guys recommend? It's funny how all work stops when a tool breaks. This is an example of how cheap tools are really expensive.

I like my Craftsman ones just fine. The newer style has a "cam" hinge so they can change from expanding to contracting without coming apart.
I've never had good luck with the ones with changeable tips.

Are you bending the tips or the ends into which the tips fasten? If it's just the cheapo tips failing, buy a new set of quality tips, they are standard.
Of course they'll probably cost you more than the HF pliers, but still less than a whole new pair. That's assuming, of course, that you otherwise like the pliers themselves. If they're not convertible or are difficult to use, etc., then just replace them with a quality brand. I have a pair of Kleins that have been bouncing around in my toolbox for more than thirty years and they've always worked fine. (They are the changeable-tip type, and it's a bit of a pain to change the tip but they work fine.) |
