louds noises from rear wheel/diff when turning left only!?!

ok..ok...grandma's 1979 300sd Turbodiesel is making
louds clanging and grinding noises from rear wheel /diff area when turning left..
going straight and turning right , is fine , no noises....problem is only when I turn left...sounds like the noise is coming from the driver side rear wheel/differential area..?!?

any advise as to what is wrong or broken???

pull tire, inspect swaybar links... that's the most common cause of the indicated noise.
if it's not that, report back.

Bingo, you are right, it was a broken sway bar linkage, the linkage bushings got old and it slipped off the joint...you guys are great! thanks for the heads up!
