87 300TDT - Hydraulic Reservoir Foot? & Miscellaneous Wire
Good Day! I was troubleshooting my A/C over the weekend. I discovered this rubber "foot" not attached to anything. I attached it to the bottom of the reservoir. Is this correct? (Pictures 1 and 2)
Picture 3 was a wire i discovered when I moved the reservoir. It is connected to the frame so I believe it is a ground wire. Alas, I do not know to where it is supposed to connect. Help.?. Thank You in Advance for sharing your knowledge! glenn Last edited by 1987-300TD; 07-18-2012 at 05:18 PM. Reason: Updated a picture |

the wire is not factory, so it's impossible to tell where it originally went. could be from a previous hack that was removed, or from a repaired factory wire that was bypassed... finding the other end if it's still there would be more helpful.
I have never had my reservoir removed on any of my cars, so I'm no help on that end... sorry. the foot does look like it goes on the bulb on the bottom of the reservoir though. is your reservoir mounted to the front radiator support with a metal cover over it or attached to the fenderwell?

rubber foot
I've seen a rubber foot like that underneath the radiator reservoir/overflow tank on some models --- maybe the 91 350SD had one? I'm not for sure which models. The rubber foot fits into the inner fender and the little nub from the bottom of the reservoir sticks into the rubber foot.
See?

Thank you for the replies. My reservoir is mounted to the front radiator support with a metal cover over it. I am going to leave it plugged into the bottom of the reservoir. It seems to go there and stabilizes the reservoir well!
I have looked through the CD-ROM and not found a reference to it. I believe it may have a number on it. I will check for a number when I next work on my Air Conditioning. Thank You Again!!! glenn |

Yes the SLS tank goes into the rubber foot.
