New idler arm bushings installed, still have play. How much is allowed. W126, 300SD

I'm rebuilding the entire front end on my 300SD and have just installed the idler arm with a new "Meyle" bushing kit from the Parts Shop. I have just as much play (3mm measured at the far end of the idler arm when moving it up and down) as I did with the original bushing kit that had 330,000 miles on it. I can see the arm move and hear it clunk. How much is too much? Should I try Mercedes Benz parts over Meyle?

More info:
Original Bushings: the play came from the bolt and inner metal bushings moving together longitudinally within the outer bushings.

New Meyle Bushings: the play comes from the bolt and inner metal bushings moving laterally within the outer bushings.
