Idler Arm Bushings - Alignment ?
The steering on my '87 300D had some play shaking at 3 and 9. We replaced the idler arm bushings and its gone. Do I need to have the alignment checked/re-done? The drag link/tie rod ends were not changed, just the idler arm bushings.
Thanks, Brian |

If the steering wheel position hasn't changed there is probably no need. Because the idler arm allows deflection one side versus the other its hard to say where the toe was when it was last checked. Toe is very tire wear important.

I had the same done on my 190D (1985). I had alignment checked - it was fine. I agree, you probably don't need it, but it would not hurt to check it (free at Just Tires)

My steering wheel did not move a noticable amount, but I had it checked just be sure. It was perfect, unchanged from the last time the shop checked it.
