I'm working on a rear regulator on my 82 300CD, but the rear panel had some disconnection of the MB Tex on the panel. It is the standard delaminating point - at the seatbelt.

I utilized the ubiquitous 3M Super Trim Adhesive. Same stuff as you would use for the hood pad.



I pulled the trim back as far as it could go with a gentle tug to get any weak spots disconnected.



Then spray the adhesive in there so it covers both sides, the tex and the cardboard.



And then "massage" the adhesive under there so it is well distributed, pulling on the vinyl so that you're getting it aligned to what you want. The adhesive still needs a bit of "exposed" time to tack well, but you don't want to wait too long.

Then you need to work the vinyl harder. You'll feel like you need eight hands, which you do, but when the adhesive has some tack, clothespins have enough traction to keep the vinyl in place.





You can still adjust the vinyl even when clamped to get a nice profile.

I did this at a few weak spots on the bottom of the door panel as well, exactly the same.

I've been thinking about using the clothespin idea for a while on my 87 300TD and 87 300D where the material loses adhesion around the map pockets in the door. Good job.

B-pillar vinyl covering.

I put mine back on using Gorilla Glue, which works. But I bought a really small bottle and didn't bother to put on my glasses and read the full disclosure.... GG expands as it dries.

Ugh. I now have a slightly puffy B-pillar in places.

Wish I had thought of clothespins. I tried to use painter's tape to hold the edges and it won't stick to metal....
