Accelerator goes to floor!!!!

I was driving home from work and decided to turn on the cruise control, BIG MISTAKE!! once I hit the cc, the accelerator stuck, then the engine dieseled, then the peddle went to the floor with no acceleration. once I was able to stop the car I again pressed on the accelerator but had no engine rev. I think either the cable or the linkage is broken. PLEASE HELP!!!

Answer

The cable has broken.

There are two possible cables.
MB# 1243007730
MB# 1243007830
each is $77.00 USD

FYI

You can rig a temporary cable.

I use thin garage door cable + the mini clamps.

Looks junky, but it works..

There are only two locations that break.
* At the engine cable connection.
* At the accelerator pedal lever - cable connection by your foot.

I hope the graphics help you

Have a great day.

pedal to the floor on a 95 300D will get you pretty nice speeding tickets.
