Engine Swap, diff AC Compressor

I have a 1980 300D engine with the newer-style AC Compressor (on the bottom left).
How difficult is it/what modifications are needed to swap this into a vehicle with the older-style AC Compressor (on the top right) and have the AC system connected properly?

You have to totally different type compressors. a York on the top right and a R-4 GM type compressor on the lower left.

I suppose with enough money it could be dooable to fabricate the brackets to make it work, along with making the hoses etc....

Another option would be to fix/repair the York, or swap in a Sanden compressor. there are the brackets available on e-bay or maybe 4 seasons or one of the AC sites. the sanden would use less hp and are more reliable than the R-4.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

Do a search on here, it sounds like the perfect time for you to install a modern Sanden compressor

Usually the older blocks ( York compressor engines ) don't have the mounting ear for the R4 compressor bracket.

ok, so the engine you are getting ALREADY has the R4 mounted. did the motor come from a 123 or a 126? if it came from a 123, you are golden, just connect the hoses. they are in the same position on both vehicles, and all you have to do is take the wire that fed the york clutch, and wire it to the R4, bobs your uncle, you're done!
