We put in all new glow plugs. Today when I needed to start it, I'd glow for a while then hit the starter and it would fire off on the first compression. Shut off was the same...immediate.

When I picked it up at the today at idle it would shake the whole truck. I asked John to adjust the idle which he did and now the idle is very acceptable.

We also installed the 38# flywheel. With that flywheel the idle is like a straight six...amazingly smooth. It had been showing to be running hot. They found a bad sending unit and replaced it.

The straight pipe is amazingly quiet. The truck sounds very nice.

Tomorrow I plan to drop it off at the glass shop if they want it.

Very cool that all the odds and ends are getting resolved - and that the phone turned up! You'll get there.

The gas pedal linkage really sucks. I'll have to change that for sure.

I got the trim piece for the right side door. It was for another model and needed cut down 3". I took it to my favorite sheet metal shop and my favorite desk guy simply walked back into the shop and cut it off on a band saw with a new blade. Took five minutes including a practice cut. I'll have to smooth it out with a file.

The piece is a little bent on the bottom. I am hoping it will not be that obvious if I put the bent part on the bottom side of the trim. Its also a bit grungy and will require cleaning and polishing.

Today I was measuring the back seat from my 82 300CD for possible use in the coupe express. I think it may work with a few mods. If it does it would offer a nice folding armrest. I like the look of it....sort of like conjoined bucket seats.

Well, those are very nice. In the CE cab the front edge of the existing seat is 48" wide, and the back is 54" wide. My CD seat may need to be trimmed a bit to fit. And it will need the leather replaced at minimum and of course, I own it.

So I also have the original seat which my grandfather may have built too. It needs complete rebuilding.

The CD seat leather is bad at the top where the sun hit it but the foam is like new since it had rarely been sat on.

Today I visited the glass shop and looked the CE over. The glass is nearly done now. I measured the actual distance in the cab vs the size of the sheet and it looks like the CD back seat will work. Cool!

The Glass guy wants me to let him drive it around a bit.

But it does not have a proper title or plate yet.

Today I worked on getting the title. I am having to do a lost title. Its a lot more involved than I anticipated. So far I have filed an affidavit for a court appearance, advertised in the news paper for three weeks, and tried to find the serial number for the policeman to verify. Unfortunately they painted over the number on the frame and it cannot be read.

We sanded a lot of the paint off the frame looking for it but so far have not been able to spot it. I have also gotten the number stamped on a new firewall label and am going to affix it to the door post tomorrow with rivets. The filing was 95, the advertising 125 and I spent a couple hours working on it.

The glass shop appears to be done with it but for a little caulking to finish it off. The glass looks great!

I also looked again at the accelerator pedal and found it is binding up where the big noodle bent rod threads down into the socket on the back of the pedal. I am not sure what I'll end up with yet but with this knowledge I am confident I can work out something.

Its sitting in my driveway now next to the Mrs. Mazda5. It looks all hunkered down. Its really nice to have it here. Like a long lost family member!
Oh yes, today I picked it up from the glass shop, installed a new number plate on the firewall, and got it inspected by a local policeman so I can get a title for it.

The lady next door came over to admire it too.
