300E Alternator on 300D

I swear I'd read something about this but google didn't turn anything up.

Can I put a W124 300E or 260E alternator on an 87 300TDT?

I just picked up a TDT that has been sitting 6 years (got the car started with no belt on it and it runs very well) and the alternator is seized. I used my only spare OM603 alternator on my 300D daily, but I have two 300E and a 260E parts car. I've also got some 190E 2.3s that are easier to get to if those will work as well.

Any insight?
