skinny on 84-85 190d w/2.2

Just curious of what opinion yall might have of the reliability and longevity of the 84-85 190d cars. I've got one i recently purchased and got running but i'm debating over keeping it or my 82 300sd. I may keep'em both but I'm looking for some input.
thanks,
hillbilly

Great car, may not be really fast, but if its got the manual tranny its a real keeper. No problems with that engine that I know of..

I agree. From the research I did, they are great cars! Slow, but great milage if it is a 5 speed. I have heard of 50MPG! Thats as good a brand new TDI Jetta. What milage are you getting? If you decide to sell it, let me know. I might be interested. Good luck....

it is a 5 speed. I bought it as a baket case. have had irt running for a few weeks but have not liscensed or insured it yet so I dont know what mileage it may get. it has over 300,000 mi but i think it may have been towed behind a motor home no sign this car has 300,000 mi worth of wear. I appreciate your input and will let ya know if i decide to sell it.
thanks
hillbilly

Hillbilly:

Performance should be a little better than the 240D and not as good as a 300D.

Taken care of, should last almost forever, specially if not rusty now.

The only problem with the 601 motor is cracked heads.
