Electrical (Plugs/Connectors) Mystery 124.128

'Taking out the front carpet inserts to shampoo,I found Two Connectors under
the Passenger Side footwell (Front) carpet.
They are "Y"ed on the electrical cable.

One is Female with 8 receptors (2mm-ish openings) MB Part #009 545 16 28
Which comes back as either a Burglary Alarm Connector or an ETR connector
for the Seatbelt/Airbag SENSOR [Part of the SRS system].

The other is an 8 position Male plug (With 4mm-ish Pins) with only 6 pins.
part number is the circle K variety 9608.

Since this chassis has not an Alarm Horn,Hood Switch or the mounting holder
for the Hood Switch nor any other "Burglary Alarm" equipment,I'll assume the
009 545 16 28 connector IS NOT for an Alarm.

The Chassis has the "Airbag Box" mounted on the Tranny Hump in front of
the Ashtray as it should.

BUT,There's Nothing mounted on the 45 degree angled [Forward] Metal foot
plate Except the Two Red/Orange airbag disconnect connectors.

The EPC SEEMS to make reference to a SENSOR (IMPACT ???)
that MAYBE should have been mounted in the footwell ? Which might be #004 820 28 26.

I'd always assumed that the "Airbag Box" on the tranny hump was all you needed.

Has this Chassis Been Hacked by having it's SENSOR removed?

The airbag sensor on the transmission hump is the only one for that system. The panel in the passenger footwell holds the red connector that you found and should also hold the alarm electronics. You do not say the year of your car. 124.128 is the 300D 2.5? 1990-92 or something like that? If there is no alarm, the other connector could be for a heated seat or sound system option. Mercedes sometimes pre-wired the cars for certain options whether they got that option or not; this made it easier to add the option later (dealer installation). Examples include the cellular telephone and the CD-changer for the sound system. Much depends on the year and the model. Others may be able to suggest other possible uses for the connectors you found.

Thanks

I like that answer much more than the answer a "Parts Specialist" @ a dealer
gave me,"You need THIS $1200.00 SRS Sensor."
