how to remove radiator - 300CD
Believe it or not I searched hard on this subject and could not find an explanation of process.....strange as I know I have seen stuff on this.
I've taken off the fan/belts/water pumb (to replace it) and want to remove radiator so I can clean it properly. Can someone provide any tips or is it as easy as it seems? Do the two transmission hoses at bottom have to be removed? Will I lose ATF in this process?] Thanks, Nic |

Thanks Bill, just as you said...no problem. I just hate to undo anything without some comment from one who has been there before. Radiator is out and cleaned. I'd like to have it professionally cleaned somehow (on inside) but as it has plastic components, I don't think that possible. With metal rads, they will submerge them in a vat of high test stuff (I think).
I'm waiting for the top flange to break off....too expensive to replace prior as long as cooling is adequate. Will replace all hoses/belts while its out. Also buying a new vacuum pump ($$!) to avoid that potential problem as mine has about 150k miles on it. Nic |

Im looking for instructions for a w123 car (I have a sedan, not a coupe, but would guess that the radiator removal is the same). I have read lots of posts stating how easy it is to remove the radiator, but no instructions on how to do it... Apparently there were some but they have been erased, as this post seems incomplete.
Can someone give me a quick set of instructions on how to remove the radiator? Also, do you need to remove belts to do the water pump? Thanks, JMH

removing radiator is easy just pry out retaining clips on top then it lifts out. straight up. but first disconnect all hoses very carefully as to not break radiator neck. there are hoses on the bottom also. I left the oil cooler behind just loosen clamps it separates. the fan shroud stays behind also it lifts from radiator, two pins at the bottom
