Harbor Freight 4 pc Gear Puller Set

In another Thread one of our Members posted asked if this Gear Puller set could be used for a specific Job and I looked at the HF Site and saw the cost was $25 (they were on Sale at that price when I bough them) for the set. Item #69104

While this sort of inexpensive Tools does not appeal to everyone I flet that the cost was such that if I could get any of the Pullers to do their job several times that would cover the purchase price.

I have a couple of good quality Pullers and a couple of cheapie pullers but this particular set has 4 different sizes of pullers. Also I fix more things than just My Mercedes so at some point I will need them.

The weak area on the Pullers is that there is a large swivle Point on the End but the Main Shaft has been turned small to fit the Swivel Point. That makes the Shaft end Weak.
Also the Swivel Point is larger than the Main Shaft and that might be a problem especially on the smaller Pullers the Swivel Point might be too large for use when pulling something off a small Shaft.

I just got the set Today and have not used them for anything yet.

The last picture shows the shaft with the Swivle tip removed.

The cheap Gear Puller set is starting to give some pay back on the investment.
I used one of them to pull off the rear Alternator Bearing.

I think I may have been the inspiration for 911's purchase. I also bought them, thought I might use them during my rear wheel bearing replacement. Ended up not using them at all. When I bought them a few months ago they were on sale, and I only paid $18 or $19. Haven't used mine yet.

I've used mine to remove rusted-on brake rotors and pull the bearing off of the prop shaft.
