Flow chart for transmission linkage 1985 300D
Here is a picture of my throttle linkage:
http://veloliner.com/mb/throttlecontrol.JPG I think I may have adjusted the transmission linkage inadvertently when I was trying to extend the throttle linkage so that it would go to the stop (M). I lengthened the "B" push rod on top of the valve cover. and should have perhaps lengthened the "C" push rod The car accelerates better but the shifting has become softer Maybe it is holding lower gears a bit longer. I am not that disappointed in the result but it occurred to me that I don't understand how the system works. I can see that rods D and E control the how the cruise control works and have labeled the idle setting as I, the transmission cable as T and what I think to be a kick down switch as S. Throw out any information you have. I have seen this link: 722.3 and 722.416 series transmission adjustments it would be nice to find out what specifications there should be on the linkage. Does anyone have a link for this part. |
Is the information in the FSM chapter 30-300 no good then?

This link may give you the help you're seeking.

Thanks for the link

In somewhat simplified terms, S is the acceleration cutout switch for the AC compressor.

Thanks for that.
I noticed on the previous link there wasn't a switch on some and others had a vacuum switch. Quote:

for your free legal on-line copy (that might be available - it isn't a very well run web site) |
Thanks
I have tried it in the past and not found files. I was on disk two. Will try it again. Quote:
