New Acquisition: 1983 240D Manual

Against GSXR's persistent counsel, I have ventured into W123 world. Just picked up a nice condition 1983 240D manual, white on palomino. Man, am I glad to drive a manual again! It's been about nine years!!

Looking forward to getting acquainted with it. A bunch of pics are at MB240D - Zebulonminor's Photos

Looks nice - I see evidence of body work problems but for the car's age what do you expect? An honest set of pictures made by the previous owner(?)

What are you going to do with it?

Yes, previous owner's pics.

I'm going to enjoy it for a while, tinker with some odds 'n' ends (cruise, AC, etc), then find it a permanent home...probably next spring/summer.

What did you notice body wise?

The problem with white paint - shows up rust - there's bubbling up on the door(s?) around the rubber seals. Rust on the outer door skin and the left hand side rear wheel arch looks like it has had some work...

...the benefit with white paint is that it is easier than many colours to blend in!

Congrats. It looks hauntingly like my 240D, same color combo. I notice yours has power windows. No engine bay shots?

I agree with Army. Looks like some haphazard body work covering a bunch of rust spots. Better look after those.

Good luck,

Packman

Haha....yeah, almost wanted to call that guy...."45 mpg? really? Wow!!"

Yeah, I'm up for some drag racing.

Engine bay is really nice and clean.

My plan is to get through the winter then take a "search and destroy" approach to the rust spots. I know there are several.

Very nice 240D. It does have some body issues but they don't look serious at all and that interior is very nice. Welcome to the W123 club!

Ive borrowed it occasionally, I would certainly be able to borrow it for a race against shertex.
