1999 E300 Turbodiesel Instrument Cluster

Has anyone ever heard of and/or thought about getting a replacement cluster for the Temperature/Fuel Level back to the Temperature/Oil Pressure/Fuel Level in the W210?

Did they make that instrument cluster for European models? I would love to actually KNOW that I have oil pressure and what it is rather than waiting for the computer to tell me that my oil LEVEL is low...I'm not good with idiot lights/computers!!

Please don't tell me "...it aint possible."

Dave

I just put an aux gauge panel in the spot where the ash tray was:

What I meant was in the instrument cluster...I would like to get a factory cluster that has all 3 instead of just fuel/temp.

I wonder if they had them for European models?

With everything on these cars done by wire, I would think you would need more than just an instrument cluster. Sending units, wire harness, control modules, and hope it works right. You would be better off with a whole donor car.

Your install looks great! Where did you get the mounting bracket, vdi gauges, and all the wiring/sending units...I will probably just copy you...what do they say? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?

Thanks in advance. Any install instructions would be appreciated as well.:)

The 606 engine block has a plugged hole in the same location (base of oil filter housing) that the other 60x engines have. All you have to do is to get a sender along with the gauge and screw it in.

Thanks for the kind words. I made the plate out of 1/8" aluminum and powder coated it with Eastwood satin black. I gutted the ash tray and lighter assembly with a bare hacksaw blade to make clearance for the gauges.

As Jeremy said, the oil sensor is threaded via a 12mm o ring adapter into the filter housing and the boost gauge is connected to a fitting a drilled and tapped into the bottom of the intake manifold.

I'm about 90% sure this is the adapter I bought...
