602 injector plastic collars/shields brittle - would like to replace - dealer says unavailable... they appear to be dust shields only ... is there any known issue if not in place

There are no issues deleting them.

They do keep dirt from building up down in the holes in clogging the splines but otherwise serve no useful purpose. Most 602/603 engines had them until they either cracked and fell apart or they were taken off and thrown away by a mechanic working on the injectors.
