Quick oil leak fix?

I was watching the tv and saw this spray on rubber sealant for roofs and it got me thinking. Could it be used to fix small oil leaks from the out side? Like I have a rear mail seal that leaks, could I spray it on the bail housing to stop the leak from dripping on the ground? I know it wouldn't stop it, but it wouldn't be all over the bottom of my car.

I honestly wouldn't waste my time trying to seal any leak on a MB from the outside. Are you sure it is the RMS that is leaking.

Probably not a good idea. The oil is going to go somewhere, and will likely just find another spot to leak. And you've have to clean the area meticulously to get it to adhere enough anyway.

No, this will not work.
A rear main seal leak is rare, further diagnosis needed to verify this.
There are several leaks that can look like this issue.

Have a great day.

Now the Good News

NONE of these (Re-Branded,They're ALL the same product) Allegedly "Synthetic
Rubber" products will withstand exposure to Petroleum Products (Oil,ATF,etc.,Etc.)

Snug up your valve cover bolts a little, clean the engine and see what is leaking after that.

It's good to know that it a rare leak, but I'm pretty sure it's the leaker. I cleaned the area and watched it build up in the space between the engine and transmission and drip. I will be doing a value adjustment soon and will replace the gasket then, maybe it's leaking down somewhere I don't see.

Were you to successfully block the area from which it's dripping, it would begin to fill the bell housing, and then your converter and flywheel would start hitting the pool of oil, and then start slinging it, and then it would start leaking from other places to which it was being slung. After it shorted the starter out (assuming it didn't ignite or cause other problems before then) it would really be a big mess to clean up.

If this bothers you that much, then fix it. In the meanwhile, put down a piece of cardboard to soak up the spills.

... notice in the ad, that everything he coats is pristine, brand new before it's coated, and nothing in the ad says it will hold or repel anything except water... it'll just make a bigger mess on your car.
to quote a deceased as seen on tv ad man... "I guarantee it!"

I guess "just pay additional processing" is what the buyer failed to realize.

I have no experience with one of these devices but there is some sort of Vacuum Pump that people attach to vent out the Crankcase and that keeps the area within the crankcase in negative pressure.

The claim is that this prevents the Seals from leaking.
