Squealing Power Steering pump
After completing my engine swap I realized the power steering pump drained out.
I refilled the reservoir and the squealing began. I went through the various procedures of lifting the G up high on the pump side. Turning the steering wheel lock to lock with the engine off over a 100 times. There were fine bubbles coming up in the reservoir. After all that the bubbles continue. The squealing lasts for about 3-4 minutes. Suggestions? Thanks

i want to say that the more modern pumps are self bleeding and you can just drive it out. i could be wrong.

A few years ago I replaced the power steering fluid in my 300CD. Can't remember if I used Dexron or Type A, but the pump started to squeal afterwards. Drained it out and bought a fluid specifically for power steering and the squeal went away.

That was my next step. Thanks for the confirmation.

Don't forget to change the filter, a blocked one can cause squeeling too.
