webasto heater?

would anybody here be interested in a webasto out of a w116.my little mom and pop junkyard just got in a w116 1978 i believe it said.it looks like someone poured gas on it and lite it up.all the paint is burned off the car but other then that the rest of it ain't too bad.grilles gone and i couldn't get the hood open to see if it was gas or diesel or if the heater is in fact there.but i did snag the timer off the center console.which is setting next to me ticking away now for the last 3 hrs and keeping pretty good time i might add.

poured gas and lite it up, it wasn't the fault of the heater was it?

I am definitely interested, it was 4F this morning here in MN!

Could you take a look and see if it's diesel? If you can see if it's a TSL 17 as well that would be great, those are awesome units. Thanks for posting about your find

well so much for that idea.got hood open.it's a gasser.and i don't know what they were doing but there is melted remnants of one of those cheesy blue tarps from one fenderwell to the other.and the wiring on the drivers fender took the brunt of it.BUT i did snag a fire extinguiser mount for the front seat.a triangle with all mounts and a beautiful first aid kit if anybody is interested.

what is the difference of gas heater and diesel heater? Probably just a different jet on the burner or so (like how you switch a propane barbecue to a natural gas barbecue...)

Sounds like a very expensive way to pre-heat the motor....at current fuel prices.

Not sure I'd trust a 30+ year old fuel fired heater under the hood of my car either!

well.found out where the car came from.it was setting in a body shop that caught on fire.so the fire did not start in the car.it was collateral damage.which would explain why all the emblems, trim, and lights were off the car.and as i said the wiring took the big hit.the heater itself doesnt look too bad but figuring out the wiring could be a nightmare.
