What would I have to do to install a 1990 300SEL condenser in a 1982 300SD?

The car that I hope to be buying (tbomachines' 300SD) has a busted condenser, and Fulcrum525 has offered me one from his parts-car 1990 300SEL. What all would I have to do to use it in the 300SD?

I would imagine they are pretty similar/the same.

I thought that one had to swap out fans or something like that. I can't find that now, though.

condenser directly bolts in.

I've done it to my cars. there are a lot smaller tubes, and more of them, so you'll get better R12 cooling with it too!

you CAN swap fans as well, to make use of the larger aux fan if you like, but it's not needed.

As long as the input and output connectors are located in the front on the driver's side, it will be a simple bolt-on swap. Grab the fan and the cross bracket while you are there. The larger fan allows more air flow through the condenser while you are sitting in traffic. When swapping the fan and bracket, you should have holes in the front of the radiator support for the new fan and bracket. You will not be mounting the new bracket at the same angle as the old one. Take pics of where and how everything is mounted on the parts car for future reference.

A side note: I purchased a new fan for my upgrade last summer and I noticed that the fan blew air towards the front of the car, not into the condenser. To rectify this, I opened the electrical connector for the fan and swapped the position of the two wires. Keep this in mind when you do your upgrade. I'm not sure if this issue is only related to new replacement fans or if the polarity was swapped on the later gen W126 chassis.
