.........

How'd you get in the Cabin but not the trunk?

If worst comes to worst you could always have MB RoadSide assistance come and get it out.

adiaw83,

Your best bet may be to remove the rear seat and see if you can get access to the trunk from there, or through the first aid kit storage nook. If you can get access, use some kind of retrieval tool, magnetic or a claw, to rumage around and pull the keys back to you. I don't envy you as breaking into the trunk from the outside is likely to damage the trunk lid and the locking mechanism. Good Luck! Jim

I believe the the w126's are like the w123's where the Fuel Tank is right behind the seat as well as a sheetmetal that sperates the cabin from the Fuel Tank and trunk. The only way to get down to the Fuel Tank is through the First Aid Kit hole (at least from inside the Cabin) on top of that there's a panel in the trunk that keeps the stuff in the trunk from hitting the tank. In other words, if your w126 is like my w123 you aren't getting to the trunk from the cabin.

If you can access the cabin, can't you just go inside, lock the door and open it.. shouldn't the vacuum open everything ?

In my 1984 300SD there is a "safety feature" mentioned in the owners manual. One person pulls the black loop handle at the bottom edge of the left rear seat cushion (may need to remove cushion) while a second person pushes the trunk latch button from the rear of the car and "voila". I think this was designed for you guys in New Jersey to get the body out in an emergency

We had no black loop but we had determination. After we removed the whole back seat we went to work. We unscrewed the hooks for the latch for the first aid kit and storage bin and the whole rear deck came up. Then we removed the 2 plastic trays from the various storage bins and we were in the trunk already. One problem my 65lb subwoofer box was right in the way. Me and my one friend weren't strong enough to move from such an awkward position so we called in our boys. About 5 more people came and my strongest friend was able to move the sub box aside then we just reached around in the trunk and there they were. It was amazing. The power locks don't function thats why the cabin was open and the trunk was locked. Anyways I just got home a few minutes ago so it turned out to be a great night.

Wow! Such determination. I locked my keys in the car once but because I was so lazy, and because we had other cars, I just went to Mercedes and ordered a whole new master key. 2 days and $25 later, I was in.

Before we did all this ie removing the storage compartments I had been getting horrible rattling. The rattling is gone now and the bass REALLY comes into the cabin now. Its amazing.
