I call defective door switch.
THe 210 is all CAN bus operated. The seat switch sends commands over the bus to the motor package under the seat. If you are getting the movement from memory then chances are the contact in the switch is bad. It's nothing like the power seats in a 124. You might be able to get away with taking it apart and cleaning/adjusting the contacts. Use no abrasives! I was able to save our reverse light switch by taking it apart and gently cleaning the contacts.

Move the seat all the way forward. That will reset the memory. You can now move the seat all the way back.

Ah yes the re-sync function, I forgot about that. (Relatively new 210 owner, still learning the systems..)

My switch on the 97 E300 works backwards...pushing forward moves seat backwards and vice versa. Also, steering wheel does not adjust at all. Any thoughts on that?

Ha. Exact same thing on my 1997. Steering wheel and everything. I've read of the steering wheel motor giving out. But that would be cool if a reset fixed it. I checked fuse and it was good. Or I never found it one. Where are all these resynch procedures documented?

Darn. A reset didn't fix it. However it is good to know a midget could drive that car.
